The context for this training
1 in 5 Australians are of Asian identity, making up the largest culturally-diverse population.
Despite this, little information exists to prepare clinicians to navigate the cultural layers shaping help-seeking, shame, and family expectations in our community.
This training bridges that gap with clinically relevant, evidence-informed learning created by practitioners who have lived experience and connection to Asian communities in Australia.
“Very well presented, educative, considerate and engaging presentation. I thoroughly enjoyed!”
You’ll leave with practical tools and frameworks you can apply immediately in session, no theory overload, just real-world impact.
What you’ll learn
After completing the training, you’ll be able to:
-
Identify how stigma influence mental health presentations and engagement styles.
-
Build rapport and engagement across cultural differences without over-generalisationing the needs of the community.
-
Consider shame, family obligations, cultural values and migration journeys in your assessment and formulations.
-
Reflect on your own positioning and record this learning toward your AHPRA cultural competency standards.
