Our approach.

Improving your mental health is a non-linear journey, and whether you’re brand new to the idea of therapy or you’re now seeking something more to facilitate deeper change within, we’re here to help.

Below, you'll find our three step approach to help you improve your mental health. Know that it's common to move and weave across all three steps at different times in your life.

You’ll see that we have resources and programs to support you at every step - what would be of most help to you right now?

1. Get to therapy

If you've never sought professional support for your mental health, seeking individualised care from a qualified practitioner is your first, crucial step in improving your mental health.

In saying so, we know that it's this step that's often the most difficult to do (if getting to therapy was easy, Shapes and Sounds wouldn't exist!) That's why we've created a list of culturally-responsive Asian therapists and there you'll also find support around accessing your Medicare rebate and we've even answered some FAQ's and concerns around your very first therapy session.

2. Connect with community

It's the strength of our relationships and the community around us, that greatly impacts our mental health and wellbeing.

Join our free and growing community to connect with other Asian Australians who care about their mental health and who'll not only validate, but celebrate your unique cultural identity.

Essentially, sometimes just knowing that you're not alone in your experiences, is what really helps to improve your mental health.

3. Be creative

We fully acknowledge that we used an image of a campfire sing-a-long here but creativity doesn’t mean just learning an instrument or being great at drawing. Instead, creativity points more towards being creative in the way in which we approach life.

Our team are expert creative therapists with experience in group work and trauma, and we’re ready to help you creatively express yourself in the way that feels most comfortable for you.
