newsletter Dec 25, 2023

Hello there!

Happy New Year, and welcome to 2024 with Shapes and Sounds.

We're thrilled to start this year by sharing that we've recently partnered with Melbourne clinical psychology practice, The Inner Collective, to help you further connect with culturally-responsive mental health practitioners!

Founded by Dr Phoebe Lau, The Inner Collective are a boutique clinical psychology practice located in Melbourne.

Their dedicated team of Asian Australian psychologists are passionate about destigmatising mental health, working with culturally diverse groups, and intersectionality.

We'll introduce you to each Inner Collective psychologist over the next few months, but for now, please click the image below to visit The Inner Collective's website!

🦉 Interesting things relating to mental health and Asian Australian identity:

📚 Academia: We all know how burnout can negatively affect our mental health, but ever wondered about how parental burnout affects youth mental health? This study demonstrates the predictive capacities of parental burnout on youth's onset of depression and anxiety.

And some recommendations from our Community Leads:

🍱 Food: Ginger Boy is hosting a Dining in the Dark experience, where patrons will try a 3 course meal while blindfolded!

📚 BooksEverything I Learned, I Learned in a Chinese Restaurant is a memoir by Curtis Chan about growing up as a gay Chinese-American kid in America
